Dr. Erle uses functional genomics approaches to study transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene regulation. His laboratory focuses on model systems that are relevant for lung biology and airway diseases, especially asthma. The laboratory has developed massively parallel assays for studying DNA and RNA regulatory elements and is using these approaches to study gene regulation during normal airway epithelial cell development and in response to key asthma mediators. In addition, Dr. Erle directs a UCSF core laboratory that has collaborated on hundreds of functional genomics projects.
