Dr. Conklin uses induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, both from patients and engineered to have particular mutations to model human disease. His laboratory’s major focus is on dominant negative diseases that could be treated by allele-specific inactivation. The Conklin Lab is currently focused on mutations that cause neurodegeneration and cardiomyopathy. We are hopeful that these studies aid in therapeutic editing in the future.
